WHO to hold meeting on Covaxin
WHO Meeting on Covaxin: World Health Organization (WHO) Chief Scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan said on Sunday that the technical advisory group of the organization will hold an important meeting on October 26. In which the EUL (Emergency Use List) for the vaccine will be considered. Swaminathan said on Twitter that Bharat is working closely with Bharat Biotech to complete the dossier.
He tweeted, ‘Technical Advisory Group will meet on 26 October regarding EUL for Covaccine. India is working closely with Biotech to complete the WHO dossier (WHO Covaxin Approval News). Our goal is to create a comprehensive portfolio of vaccines approved for emergency use and to expand its reach to people everywhere.

Covaccine is submitting data to WHO on a rolling basis and additional information has been provided on 27 September at the request of WHO. Earlier in the month, the WHO tweeted saying, ‘Covaxin manufacturer Bharat Biotech has submitted data to WHO on a rolling basis and has also provided additional information on WHO’s request on 27 September (WHO Covaxin Approval Status). WHO experts are currently reviewing this information and if all important questions are answered, then the assessment will be finalized next week.

Covaccine is India’s first vaccine, which has been developed in collaboration with ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) and NIV (National Institute of Virology). The World Health Organization has approved six vaccines so far. These include Pfizer BioNtech, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), Oxford-AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm and Sinovac Vaccines. It is believed that in this meeting, covaccine can be approved for emergency use.
