At the same time, Jaishankar had said that if both sides are committed to improving relations, then the full expression of this commitment should be reflected in the ongoing talks about the process of withdrawing. He had said that work is in progress regarding the current situation between India and China regarding eastern Ladakh, although its pace is slower than the desired level.

Wang also visited Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal during his South Asia tour from March 21-27. During his visit to Islamabad, he met Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
