The ‘Young Professionals Scheme’ will start between India and Britain from next month. Under this scheme, degree holders Indian citizens aged 18 to 30 years will have the opportunity to live and work in the UK for two years. In fact, through YPS, India has become one of the few countries in the world whose citizens are allowed to stay in Britain for two years without any sponsor or job. These countries include Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, Iceland, San Marino, Monaco, South Korea and Hong Kong. Under YPS every year 3000 people from India will get to live and work in Britain. However, he will be able to stay in Britain only for two years.
YPS is part of the ‘Migration and Mobility Partnership’

At this time Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and the then British Home Minister Priti Patel signed an agreement named ‘Migration and Mobility Partnership’. YPS was a major point in this agreement. On 9 January, Vikram Duraiswamy, India’s High Commissioner to the UK and Matthew Rycroft, Permanent Secretary of the UK Home Office, signed the YPS and launched the scheme. In Britain YPS is known as UK Youth Mobility Scheme.
What is Young Professionals Scheme?
Under the agreement between India and Britain, through this scheme, 3000 people from both the countries will be able to live in each other’s countries for two years. For this, it is not necessary for them to have a job or sponsorship. This is similar to the Youth Mobility Scheme already running in Britain. Every year 3000 people will benefit from the Young Professionals Scheme.
Can you go to UK or not?
It is not necessary to have educational qualification or knowledge of English language for Britain’s Youth Mobility Scheme. However, to be eligible under the Young Professionals Scheme, a candidate must possess a diploma or degree. Apart from this, he should also have knowledge of English, so that he can communicate with the people in UK.
Candidates applying from India may also be required to submit their bank account statement. In this, they have to prove that they have 2530 pounds in their account or say about 2.5 lakh rupees. At the same time, there is a possibility that sponsorship may be required for the Young Professionals Scheme. But so far no explanation has been given regarding the money and sponsorship in the bank account.
