According to Pakistani media website Dawn, Dianpar SSP Sher Khan has told that the accident happened when a bus which was going towards Rawalpindi from Gizar district of GB hit a car coming from the other side. .
Sher Khan told that 16 bus passengers and 5 car passengers have died in this accident. The local police is engaged in the rescue work. At present, the police is trying to find out how many people were traveling in the bus. At the same time, he told that search and rescue operation is being conducted at the spot. Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over this accident. He has offered condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
He directed the concerned authorities to provide all available medical facilities to the injured. The report further states that GB Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid had expressed grief over the accident. He directed the administration and all concerned departments to evacuate the injured and provide medical facilities to them. The CM also directed to set up a special control room for better coordination and monitoring of emergency response. He also advised to send a medical team from Gilgit if needed.
