Indigenous system ‘Kavach’ has been developed to protect trains from collision. With the help of this technology, a railway network of 2000 km will be prepared in the country.
New armor made to protect trains from collision.
Traveling by train in the country will now be more secure. Indian Railways (Indian Railways) of the East Central Railway (ECR) zone, ‘Kavach’ (Kavach) for the smooth running of many trains passing through its zone.kavach) will set up an advanced signaling system. Self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar BharatIndigenous world class technology for protection in 2022-23 underKavach Technology) a network of 2,000 km will be brought. Along with making the rail network secure, this technology will also work to increase its capacity. Kavach technique is an indigenous technique. It has been developed in the country itself.
ECR’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Virendra Kumar said that this system will be installed on Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction-Gaya-Dhanbad Grand Chord route and for this an amount of Rs. Tender for estimated cost has been floated.
Kumar told Hindustan Times, the 408 km long Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction-Gaya-Dhanbad Grand Chord route is an important and busiest railway route in our country covering 77 stations and 79 level crossing gates. The division has given permission to run trains on this route at a speed of up to 130 kmph.
What is armor system?
Talking about the importance of the system, he said, Kavach is an anti-collision technology that will help us achieve zero accidents on railway tracks. The system works on micro processing, global positioning system and radio communication. The device will be installed inside the cabin of the locomotives connecting directly through the radio system to the stations located throughout the route.
The system is designed and developed by Standards Research Organization. The device has an inbuilt automatic brake system that will check for collision probabilities of front or rear passenger trains through sensors.
How will it work?
In order to prevent railway collision, a completely indigenous system TCAS (Train Collision Avoidance System) has been developed by Indian Railways. The rescue system TCAS has been developed on Indian Railways to avoid crossing the signal in red state, not to run train at a speed exceeding the permissible speed and to prevent accidents involving head-on collisions, which is named ‘Kavach’.
Provides continuous updates of TCAS Movement Authority. Therefore, during unsafe situations when braking becomes necessary and the crew either fails to do so or is not in a position to do so, automatic brakes can be applied.
