Tokyo Olympic 2020: With winning a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, PV Sindhu has become the first female athlete to win two medals in an individual event at the Olympics.
Indian star shuttler PV Sindhu has won a bronze medal in the women’s singles event at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Sindhu defeated China’s He Bingjiao 21-13, 21-15 to win the medal for India’s second medal at the Tokyo Olympics. This is PV Sindhu’s second Olympic medal. Earlier, he had won a silver medal in the Rio Olympics. This is the third time in a row that India has won an Olympic medal in women’s badminton singles.
PV Sindhu has become the first woman athlete to win two medals in an individual event at the Olympics with her winning a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. At the same time, he is only the second Indian athlete to do this feat after veteran wrestler Sushil Kumar. Wrestler Sushil won the bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
Sindhu’s performance in her second Olympics has been strong this time too. After Rio, he made it to the semi-finals of the second consecutive Olympics. But even before reaching the title match, world number one Tai Tzu Ying broke his dream of winning gold by defeating him. But despite this defeat, Sindhu showed her strength and has now won the second consecutive medal for India.

There was a great match of 83 minutes between Sindhu and Carolina Marin of Spain and Marin got the victory and Sindhu got the silver medal in the neck. Sindhu could not win gold in Rio, but her name was written in the golden letters of Indian badminton history.
Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics before PV Sindhu won silver at the Rio Olympics. Nehwal became the first player to win a medal not only in women but in the history of Indian badminton. She won the bronze medal in the match against Wang Xin of China.
