Redmi Watch 2 will be launched with big AMOLED display, company revealed

The Redmi Watch 2 will feature a larger AMOLED display than the one available on the original Redmi Watch, revealed Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi on Weibo. The new Redmi Watch model will be launched next week alongside the Redmi Note 11 series. Many fitness tracking features will be present in this smartwatch, in which real-time notifications of connected phones will also be available. Redmi launched its first generation Redmi Watch in November last year. The model comes with a 5ATM water-resistant build, includes heart rate monitoring and slip tracking features, among others.

According to the official poster shared on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, the Redmi Watch 2 will sport a 1.6-inch AMOLED display. This is an upgrade over the 1.6-inch LCD display available on the original Redmi Watch.

The new model AMOLED display will offer deeper black levels and better contrast than the previous model. It will also provide better battery life, as AMOLED panels offer better power efficiency than LCD displays.

Redmi has also teased that the new smartwatch will come with thinner bezels, which will offer a higher screen-to-body ratio than the previous Redmi Watch.

Earlier this week, Redmi revealed that the Redmi Watch 2 will launch in China alongside the Redmi Note 11 series on October 28. The launch details were also revealed in the teaser that surfaced earlier and it was indicated that fitness tracking features will be available in the new Redmi Watch.

Ahead of the official launch, the Redmi Watch 2 pre-booking registration has been started. E-commerce site JD.com has also listed the upcoming smartwatch with three different wrist color options on its website, namely Elegant Black, Ivory and Space Blue. Last year’s models got Black, Blue, Ivory and Olive straps.

It is believed that Redmi will introduce features like SpO2 monitoring and heart rate tracking, fast charging and better battery life in Redmi Watch 2 compared to its previous version.
