Rain troubled the players in the final of the ICC World Test Championship (ICC WTC Final 2021) being played between India and New Zealand in Southampton. The first day’s play was not possible. The play of the last session was interrupted on the second day due to poor light. On the third day though the weather did not commit any foul but the Indian batsmen still remained troubled. The reason for this was a long wide bowler of the New Zealand team. The name is Kyle Jamieson. Jameson, six feet eight inches, made an important contribution in sending five Indian batsmen to the pavilion to pile them up for 217 runs.
During this he also broke many records. This was the second time that Jameson had taken five wickets in an innings in a Test match against India. In these wickets, he got the biggest success in the form of India’s captain Virat Kohli. After the match, Jameson told how precious Virat’s wicket was to him and how he was implicated.
plan was ready
Looking at the entire match, it seemed that the Kiwi bowlers have come out with a plan against every Indian batsman. After putting Virat Kohli out-swinger continuously, Jameson again put an inswinger which hit his pad and he became lbw. When asked if this was a strategy, he said, “Oh, yes. Maybe it’s some pattern. We talked a lot about it, the ball he got out today definitely came in. And as a bowler it is not easy to control. Also as a batsman whoever you are. So I don’t think it was only for Kohli.”
Kohli’s wicket played an important role
Jameson, who took five wickets for 31 runs, has said that Kohli’s wicket played an important role in the way things happened. He said, “Obviously he is an important part of his team and has a lot of big wickets. So it was good to get him out early. It was fantastic and very important for the day.”
