The Indian team is currently present in Southampton for the ICC World Test Championship Final against New Zealand. This match is to start from June 18. Earlier, while the New Zealand team is busy in the Test series with England, the Indian team has also started its preparations while in Quarantine. Before this match, both the teams will continue to get suggestions from many experts, but the Indian team has got advice from a legend who was New Zealand’s most successful coach till a few years ago and took the team to the World Cup final for the first time. Former Kiwi team coach Mike Hesson has given some guru mantras to Virat Kohli-led Team India before the Test Championship final, which can help in winning the title.
Looking at the recent performance of the Indian team, the batting combination in the Playing XI is quite fixed. The batting order from the opening to the number six is absolutely fixed. Despite this, different suggestions are coming about the opening. The responsibility of opening Team India has been on the shoulders of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill for the last few matches, but Hesson has suggested a change in it.
Get the opening done with Mayank, Kiwi has experience of bowling
Hesson certainly agreed that the Indian team management would not make any changes in the opening pair, but suggested that Mayank, who has experience playing against New Zealand, should be given a chance. The former Kiwi coach told news agency PTI, “They will probably go with Rohit and Shubman but I think Mayank’s name should be considered. He has faced their attack in New Zealand and he has good experience playing Kiwi bowlers.
Mayank Agarwal had scored the most runs for India in the two-Test series in New Zealand last year. He was one of the four batsmen to score a half-century for India. India lost that series 2-0.
Have to rely on spin pair
Not only this, Hesson also advised the Indian team on the bowling combination. The final match will be played with the famous deux balls, which provide more swing and movement. Despite this, Hesson believes that spinners will also play an important role in the match. Keeping this in mind, Hesson said, “They (Ashwin and Jadeja) really provide India with a good balance. This means that you will have five main bowlers so that you can attack the right-handed batsmen and the left-handers equally. It should not be forgotten that there are five left-handed batsmen in the New Zealand team.
