Wednesday was a good day for India in the World Wrestling Championship being played in Oswe, Norway. The women wrestlers of the country have moved towards medals with their excellent performance. India’s veteran wrestler Sarita Mor made a comeback by defeating current winner Linda Morais to reach the semi-finals of the World Championships. At the same time, another emerging player of the country, Anshu Malik, has also kept the medal hopes alive by making a place in the last four. The reigning Asian champion Sarita was up against the 2019 world champion Canadian wrestler in the first round but she managed to register a 8-2 win in the pre-quarterfinals of the 59kg weight category.

Sarita got off to a brisk start and, still presenting a good sample of defence, took a 7-0 lead after the first period. Linda collected two points from the second period takedown but the Indian player kept his lead and registered the win. The quarterfinal match between Sarita and Germany’s Sandra Paruszewski was very close. Only one move was made to score points in the entire match. Sarita beat Sendra to collect points with a takedown. For a place in the final, Sarita will now face defending European champion Bilyana Zhivkova Duodova of Bulgaria.

Such was the performance of Anshu
