Sir Lewis Hamilton: From Stevenage to seven-time F1 world champion
Max Verstappen survived a rain bathe and the looming risk of Fernando Alonso to safe a powerful victory at a one-sided Monaco Grand Prix.
Verstappen, who beat Alonso to pole place by simply 0.084 seconds, stored his cool within the slippery circumstances to steer Sunday’s 78-lap race, which lasted almost two hours from begin to end, as he secured his fourth win of the season.
Alonso completed 27.9 seconds behind the Red Bull driver with Esteban Ocon third for Alpine, because the Frenchman claimed solely the third podium of his profession.
Lewis Hamilton and George Russell took benefit of the rain to cross the road in fourth and fifth respectively for Mercedes. Sergio Perez began final after he crashed out of qualifying and completed sixteenth following a horrible race for the Mexican driver which included 5 pit stops.
