Manika’s decision wrong

Banerjee told Sportstar, “It is not right to deny the national coach for coaching. He said that it was not right at all on Manika’s behalf to call Soumyadeep the personal coach of Sutirtha Mukherjee, who participated in Tokyo Olympics. Yes, he trains Sutirth in his academy, but Soumyadeep has been appointed as the national coach.

All eyes were on the coach’s absence

In a conversation with Sportstar after her third round exit from the Olympics on Monday, Manika expressed her disappointment over not having her personal coach in her corner for singles matches. Manika had said- “Here is the personal coach of our national coach (Soumyadeep Roy) Sutirtha. So it helped them. I think it would have helped a lot if my personal coach also sat for my matches. “

Banerjee, however, said that Manika knew even before reaching Tokyo that her coach Sanmay Paranjpe would not be on the ground for their matches. Banerjee said, “Even before she left, she knew that her coach had P category recognition. Which means they can stay together only till practice.

Manika was defeated in the third round

“I don’t see the need to defend Soumyadeep here without any reason. During my next meeting, the report of the team leader (MP Singh) will be placed before the TTFI Executive Committee and the committee will decide the future course of action.

Manika preferred to play her singles matches without a national coach. Paranjpe advised him from the gallery. During a table tennis match in Tokyo, an empty chair in his corner emerged as a topic of discussion. Austrian player Sofia Polkanova defeated Manika 4-0 in the third round.
