Rising table tennis player Archana Kamath (Archana Kamath) Has also joined the list of players going to the court. Archana took this step after being dropped from the team selected for the Commonwealth Games. In this way, the deadlock over the selection of the team for the competition to be held in Birmingham from 28 July to 8 August is increasing. Archana was initially included in the table tennis team at a discount as she was a member of the Table Tennis Federation of India. (TTFI) did not meet the eligibility criteria. However, the Committee of Administrators (COA) suddenly dropped him from the team and replaced him with Diya Chitale.
Shocked by the exclusion from the team, Archana has filed a writ petition in the Karnataka High Court against the Government of India, TTFI, Sports Authority of India and other members of the women’s team. Archana forms the world number four pair with Manika Batra in women’s doubles. The High Court has asked all the parties to appear before it on the next date of hearing on June 22.

In the initial list, the selection committee had selected Manika, Archana, Sreeja Akula and Rit Rishya in the women’s category while Chitale was kept on standby. Experienced Sharath Kamal, G Sathiyan, Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shetty were named in the men’s team while Manush Sah was kept as the reserve player. The CoA’s decision did not go down well with many players and before Archana, Chitale, Manush Sah and Swastika Ghosh decided to approach the court.
Chittale had also knocked on the door of the court
The Delhi High Court was told on Friday that young table tennis player Divya Chitale has been included in the Indian team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The Table Tennis Federation of India, run by the Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), briefed Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri about the developments. After this, Chitale’s lawyer withdrew the petition which was filed after he was left out of the Commonwealth Games team. Chitale’s petition was to be heard on June 13, while on the same day the petitions of Swastika Ghosh and Manush Shah, who have not been selected in the team, are also to be heard.
