Born in Ajmer, Rajasthan, Alimuddin impressed a lot in his debut match against Baroda. Despite the presence of senior and experienced players in the team, he was the highest scorer of the team in his very first innings. Rajputana’s team was bundled out for just 54 runs in the first innings, in which Alimuddin scored the maximum 13 runs. After this, in bowling, this 12-year-old young player also took the wicket of Vijay Hazare, the biggest Indian batsman of that era.

Showed power in debut itself
In the second innings also, Alimuddin showed his power with his batting and this time also scored runs for the team. Rajputana’s team was bundled out for 133 runs in the second innings, in which Alimuddin scored 27 runs. Only Raghubir Singh (28) scored more runs than him in this innings. That is, at the age of 12, Alimuddin had shown his ability.
Pakistan elected in partition
However, India could never get the benefit of his ability and because with the partition of the country on 15 August 1947, like many Muslim families, Alimuddin’s family also went to Pakistan. Alimuddin lived in Lahore with his family in Pakistan and started cricket there. In 1954, he also got a chance to make his Test debut for Pakistan.

The biggest moment of Alimuddin’s Test career, which started his career against England at Lord’s, came in 1955, when the Indian team toured Pakistan for the first time. Alimuddin scored the maximum 332 runs in the 5 Tests played in this series. In the second innings of the last Test played in Karachi, Alimuddin scored his first century with an innings of 103 runs. However, after this, Alimuddin’s form kept showing ups and downs and in 1962 he played his last Test. Alimuddin played 25 Tests for Pakistan, in which he scored 1091 runs with the help of 2 centuries and also took 1 wicket.
