If the team is performing then there is no question of changing the captain: Jay Shah

Before the T20 World Cup, the captaincy of Virat Kohli once again came into the limelight. After the ICC tournament, the news of him leaving the captaincy from T20 and ODI started flying as a report in the media. When the market of speculation got heated about Captain Kohli, first BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal came from the front and told IANS that all this is baseless and nonsense. But, even after that, if there is any doubt about Virat’s ODI and T20 captaincy, then now just listen to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. The BCCI secretary has decided the future of Virat Kohli’s captaincy. With his statement, he has removed all the confusions that had arisen just before the T20 World Cup.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, while emphasizing on Virat Kohli’s captaincy career, said, “As long as the team is performing. She is giving good performance. The question of change in captaincy does not arise. Jai Shah has given this statement in a conversation with The Indian Express. Shah’s statement has come when reports of Virat Kohli leaving the captaincy and split captaincy in Team India made headlines in the media. It was said in that report that Virat Kohli will hand over his captaincy in ODIs and T20s to Rohit Sharma after the T20 World Cup. Whereas he will only be the captain of Test cricket.

Kohli’s captaincy is amazing, just waiting for ICC trophy

Jay Shah, linking the captaincy with the performance of the team, talked about Team India’s 2-1 lead in the Test series against England. Apart from this, he also counted the achievements of captain Kohli’s team in T20 cricket. He said that under the captaincy of Kohli, India did not lose in the short format of cricket. They won 3–2 against England, won 2–1 in Australia, defeated Sri Lanka 2–0 and thrashed New Zealand 4–0. However, winning the ICC tournament in front of Virat Kohli is still a big challenge.

India has announced its team for the T20 World Cup only last week. He has tried to make this team strong by adding Dhoni as a mentor. This decision of BCCI has been appreciated by everyone and has been termed as a master stroke.
