Smriti Mandhana has performed brilliantly in the last T20 match.
The Indian Women’s Cricket Team is currently on a tour of Australia. He hasn’t done well here. India also had to face defeat in the last T20 match played on Sunday. After this match, the head coach Ramesh Pawar has given a big statement to the team regarding the captaincy of the team. He has also indicated a change in captaincy, although he has said that there is no fixed limit on this but it can be considered after the ODI World Cup. He has told Smriti Mandhana as his choice as the next captain. Ramesh Pawar is confident that the artistic batsman Smriti Mandhana will lead the national team in the near future as she is being seen as a potential captain. The ODI World Cup is to be organized next year.
During the Indian team’s disappointing series against Australia, Mandhana’s performance was much better than the other batsmen of the team. India lost the multi-format series 5–11 on this tour, based on the overall outcome of the ODI, Test and T20I series. Pawar said after the Indian team’s 14-run defeat in the third T20 International, “We are looking at him as the captain. She will lead the team in the near future.”
no time limit
He, however, clarified that he is not setting any deadline for the change in captaincy but said that it could happen after the ODI World Cup. He said, “The name of the new captain can be announced after the ODI World Cup, but the format, timing and other things are to be decided by the BCCI and the selectors. We are not in any hurry about this and therefore want to take a lot of time.”
Motivates young players
Twenty-five-year-old Mandhana scored 127 runs in the historic day-night Test after scoring 86 runs in an ODI during this series. He scored 52 runs in the third T20 International on Sunday. Mandhana is being seen as a potential captain because she is like an inspiration to the young players of the team. Praising the vice-captain of the T20 team, Pawar said, “She inspires many young players in the team. The way he batted in Tests, especially in light of light, he was amazing. We knew she would prove to be a good captain.
glad of this
Pawar is happy that the team management has been able to give a lot of opportunities to the young and experienced players during the tour of England and Australia. This former off-spinner of the Indian team said, “You need all kinds of players to win the World Cup. We are standing at a juncture where Mithali and Jhulan will be out at some point. We tried young bowlers like Meghna Singh and Renuka Thakur. We wanted to try our players.”
