The current season of Australia’s famous T20 tournament Big Bash League is bringing many controversies and thrills. So far, some shocking results have been seen in the tournament, while some controversial decisions have also been made. A new entry has been made in this list of controversies. On Saturday, January 14, a shot was seen in the Melbourne Derby, which divided cricket fans on social media. In this match between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades, a batsman’s shot directly hit the roof above the ground and the umpire’s decision on this surprised many people.
The two teams clashed at Melbourne’s Docklands ground on Saturday, in which Melbourne Renegades batted first and scored 162 runs. After that came the turn of Melbourne Stars and the target was not easy to win in front of them. He needed good batting and opener Joe Clarke was doing the work for him.
The ball hit the ceiling and then…
This England batsman started opening his hands from the third over and did something in the same over which surprised him. Clarke played a tremendous shot on the last ball of Will Sutherland’s over, but instead of going long, this shot rose high in the air. Before the ball went out of the ground, it hit the roof above the ground. This stadium was covered with a roof, due to which the ball collided with it.
As soon as the ball came down, the umpire raised his straight hands in the air and signaled 6 runs.

Fans surprised by BBL rules
Normally in such a situation the ball is termed as ‘dead ball’ but apparently under the playing conditions of the Big Bash League the rules were made different and the advantage went to the batsman. Wasn’t expecting to cross the boundary and probably would have been caught. Because of this, many did not like this rule and they also criticized it on Twitter.

still no win
This was Clarke’s first six in the innings and he scored 59 runs in 37 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 2 fours. However, despite Clarke’s luck and his innings, the Melbourne Stars failed to win and lost by a margin of 6 runs. Melbourne’s team could only score 156 runs in 20 overs losing 7 wickets.
