Some cricketers are justifying the decision to remove Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy, while some believe that it is not in favor of the team.
Questions raised on the decision to remove Virat Kohli from ODI captaincy!
There has been a stir in Indian cricket since the removal of Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy. Some former cricketers are calling it the right decision, while some believe that removing Virat Kohli is not the right decision. Former fast bowler Madan Lal, who won the World Cup for India in 1983, has also raised a question mark over the snatching of ODI captaincy from Virat Kohli. He even said that it is very difficult to make a team but it is very easy to break a team.
In a special conversation with Hindustan Times, Madan Lal said, ‘I do not know what is the thinking of the selectors. Virat Kohli was giving results so why was he removed? I can understand why he left the captaincy from T20 cricket. Cricket was being played a lot and Virat wanted to focus on ODIs and Tests. But even when you are successful, it is beyond my comprehension to remove you from the captaincy.
Virat should have got chance till 2023 World Cup
Madan Lal said that Virat Kohli deserved the captaincy till 2023 World Cup. Madan Lal said, ‘I thought Virat Kohli would captain till 2023 World Cup. It is very difficult to build a team but it is easy to break it. Madan Lal also said that when Dhoni left the Test captaincy, he was captaining the ODI and T20 team, so what would have caused the problem. Madan Lal said, ‘I do not understand where the confusion would have arisen. Every captain has a different way of captaining. There is a different captaincy in Test and Limited over formats. Virat-Rohit have their own style. Dhoni had a different style. At the international level, only professional cricket should be talked about and nothing else.
Let us tell you that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had revealed that Virat Kohli himself left the T20 captaincy while BCCI did not want this. After this the board decided to remove him from the ODI captaincy as he wanted only one captain in the white ball game which is now Rohit Sharma.
