SRH review: Sunrisers Hyderabad started the season with controversies but it was expected that this team will do wonders except for controversies, although the story turned completely upside down.
When the Sunrisers Hyderabad team was preparing for the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), controversies surrounded it. Captain David Warner, who won the team the title, had left and it was certain that Hyderabad would not go after him in the auction. not only this. Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who has been the life of the team in every IPL since 2017, also left the team as the team did not give him the desired amount. After these controversies, the team formed a new team under the leadership of Kane Williamson. In the IPL-2022 (IPL 2022) mega auction, this team made many surprising decisions. In this, spending 10.75 crores on Niklos Pooran. No search for Rashid Khan’s option was involved. The result was that this season the team could not reach the playoffs once again.
The team didn’t start well. He lost the first two matches. But then this team made a comeback and surprised everyone by winning five consecutive matches. When it felt that this team was in color and would easily play the playoff, then this team lost its momentum. Five consecutive losses after five consecutive wins raised questions about the team’s going to the playoffs. This team had to depend on other teams and the result was that the team could not go to the playoffs.
Team’s batting disappointed
The biggest weakness of this team was its batting. The team did not have the batsmen who could score runs in a stormy manner in terms of T20. The team played bets on Nicholas Pooran but this batsman could not do the kind of work that the team had expected. The team saw him as a finisher but he was not seen finishing the match. Pooran scored 306 runs in 14 matches played this season. Two half-centuries came off his bat. In a format like T20, if the opening pair is not Atishi, then it has to bear the brunt. Hyderabad fed Abhishek Sharma as an opener but captain Kane Williamson was a complete failure as his partner. He could not give the team a quick start. Abhishek was the highest run-scorer for the team this season. This young batsman scored 426 runs.
Apart from Abhishek, two other players did a good job in the batting. These players were Rahul Tripathi and Aidan Markram. Both impressed with their batting but both of them struggled due to lack of consistency. By law, only three batsmen went for Hyderabad this season but they did not get along with others.
bowling was strong
If the bowling of Hyderabad is seen, then he did better than the batsmen. Umran Malik and T. Natarajan impressed but did not get along with other players. Umran Malik took 22 consecutive matches and 22 wickets for the team. But another talented bowler of the team, T. Natarajan, however, struggled with injury. He was out for three matches. In the rest of the matches played by this bowler, his performance in front of the team stifled the nose. Natarajan took 18 wickets in his name. Like every year, Bhuvneshwar Kumar performed according to his fame this year too.
Khali spinner shortage
If seen in this season, the spinners are dominating. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav dominated for their respective teams. Wanindu Hasaranga also played an important role in the success of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Here Hyderabad was seen beating. He lacked a good spinner. Washington Sundar was with him but this player was troubled by injury. He could play only nine matches and took only six wickets. Even if this team had not worked hard to find the substitute of Rashid Khan in the auction, the results could have been better.
loss of balance
Team balance is very important in any format of cricket. But the Hyderabad team could not do this work. Balance means that the batsmen, support the bowlers and the bowlers, the batsmen. But this was not seen. The bowlers still did better but the batsmen could not bring their hard work to the end many times.
