India and Sri Lanka Another T20 series has come to an end. Second consecutive series in two years and the result is the same as before. Team India once again invited its neighbor to the house, entertained him but did not let him win again. In the last and deciding match of the three-match series, India defeated Sri Lanka by 91 runs and won the series 2-1. Like every time, Team India not only won the series, but also made some records, improved their old records and some players also achieved personal records.
First thing about the match. India batted first in Rajkot on Saturday 7th November and made a big score of 228 runs on the basis of Suryakumar Yadav’s tremendous innings of 112 runs. In response, the Indian bowlers bundled out Sri Lanka for just 137 runs and won the series with the match. Let us tell you about the special records and figures that came out of this victory.
Series win highlights
- India has defeated Sri Lanka for the fifth time in a row in the T20 series on their own land. There have been 6 T20 series in India between the two teams, in which only the first series of 2009 was equal to 1-1. Means Sri Lanka has not yet been able to beat India in India.
- Not only this, including all the three formats, Sri Lanka has played 25 bilateral series in India so far, but there is not a single series in which it has won. India is the only country where Sri Lanka has failed in all the three formats.
- Team India has maintained the streak of not losing any T20I series at home since 2019. India played 12 series during this period, out of which 10 were won, while two (against South Africa) were drawn.
- India scored more than 200 runs in an innings for the fourth time in T20 against Sri Lanka. Earlier, only against England, India had scored more than 200 runs 4 times.
- Not only this, this is India’s second biggest win on home soil. India’s biggest win at home is by 93 runs and incidentally it was also against Sri Lanka (2017).
- Talk about Suryakumar, who scored his third century. Suryakumar is the second Indian after Rohit Sharma (4), who has scored three centuries in T20 International.
- Surya completed his century in just 45 balls, which is the second fastest century for India after Rohit Sharma (35 balls).
- In this innings, Surya also completed his 1500 runs, for which he took only 843 balls. In this way, he became the batsman to score 1500 T20 International runs in the fewest balls.
