According to the report of the English newspaper Times of India, about 600 players and coaches have sent their names for Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award and DhyanChand Award. According to this, it has broken the record of last year. Last year around 400 applications were received. The officials of the ministry are looking into these applications and shortlisting the selection committee and giving names.
A total of 35 applications have been received for Major Dhyan Chand, Khel Ratna Award. The rules of the ministry ask to nominate two players for this award. At the same time, 215 applications have been received for the Arjuna Award, while the rules of the ministry ask to nominate 15 players for this award. Similarly, 100 applications have come for the Dronacharya Award. The ministry has received 138 applications for the Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award. A total of 36 corporators, NGOs and other organizations have received applications for Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar.
