The Australian team is currently playing a three-match ODI series against England. The second match of this series is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Batting first in this match, Australia scored 280 runs losing eight wickets. Former captain and one of the best batsmen of the present time, Steve Smith played a big role in helping the team reach here. Smith played an excellent inning in the second consecutive match but he missed out on scoring a century.
Smith played an inning of 94 runs in this match. In his innings, Smith faced 114 balls and hit one six with five fours. Australia defeated England in the first ODI played in Adelaide and its basis was also Smith’s innings. Smith scored an unbeaten 80 runs. In this innings, he faced 78 balls and hit nine fours and a six.
Partnership with Marsh and Labuschagne
Australia had lost their two wickets early. David Warner (16) and Travis Head (19) were dismissed after scoring runs. After this Smith and Marnus Labuschagne took over the team and made a century partnership for the third wicket. Both of them added 101 runs in 112 balls. Labushen faced 55 balls and scored 58 runs with the help of four fours and a six. Labushen was dismissed by Adil Rashid.
On the next ball, Adil sent Alex Carey to the pavilion. After this, Mitchell Marsh supported Smith and shared a partnership of 90 runs. This partnership had tied the hope of a big score for the team.

Chris Woakes and David Willey took two wickets each for England. Adil Rashid achieved three successes. Moeen Ali got a wicket. Australia won the first match and hence has a 1-0 lead.
