Shubman Gill is currently at the peak of his career. Runs are coming out of his bat continuously. The Indian opener scored an unbeaten 40 in the second ODI against New Zealand. Earlier, he had scored a double century in the first ODI. Gill’s bat is continuously spewing fire. He got a new name after remaining unbeaten in the second match. He played 20 ODIs for India and after these matches he has an average of 71.38 in ODIs.
After the second ODI there was a conversation between Shubman Gill and Indian veteran Sunil Gavaskar and during this conversation Gavaskar gave him a new name. Gavaskar told the young opener that I have given you a new nickname Smoothman Gill. I hope you will not mind.

Gill replied to Gavaskar and said that Sir, I have no objection. In the first ODI against New Zealand, Gill completed 1000 runs in 19 innings. He became the fastest Indian to achieve this feat. He left behind Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan, who had completed 1000 runs in 24 innings in this format.
Gill has made everyone his fan with his performance. Even Salman Butt of Pakistan is not tired of praising him. He said that ever since he has seen Gill playing, he has become a fan. He has played a different kind of cricket. At this age, very few players are able to finish matches like this.
