On the basis of the excellent performance of Riyan Parag, Assam has made a big upset in the current season of Ranji Trophy. Assam defeated Hyderabad, considered stronger than itself, by 18 runs in the Group-B match. Parag played an important role in the team’s victory in this match by performing brilliantly with both his bat and ball. Hyderabad had got a target of 250 runs to win, but on the fourth and last day of the match, the Hyderabad team collapsed for 231 runs.
Parag took four wickets for 48 runs in the first innings. Apart from this, Parag scored 78 runs in the second innings. In the first innings, only 10 runs came out of Parag’s bat. He made it difficult for Hyderabad to achieve the target. He also took four wickets in this innings. That is, in this match he took a total of eight wickets and scored 88 runs. Assam had played the first innings of this match and scored 205 runs. Swaroopam Purkayastha played an inning of 83 runs in 88 balls for Assam. In this innings, he hit 11 fours and three sixes. Sibshankar Roy was able to score 25 runs off 42 balls. Gokul Sharma got out after scoring 24 runs. The Hyderabad team could only score 208 runs in their first innings. For that, Rohit Rayudu scored maximum 60 runs. Bhagat Verma played an inning of 46 runs. Rahul Buddhi scored 35 runs.
Assam again scored 252 runs in the second innings on the basis of Parag’s 78 runs. Parag had played a quick innings. He scored so many runs in just 28 balls. In his innings, he hit eight fours and six sixes. Akash Sengupta contributed 31 and Siddharth Sarmah contributed 36 not out.
