Rajasthan Royals have lost three of their biggest foreign players during the IPL 2021 season and have signed some new players in their place.
Glenn Phillips has been signed by Rajasthan Royals in place of Jos Buttler.
There is less than a week left for the IPL 2021 season to resume. All the teams have reached UAE for this, where all 8 teams will try their best to win the title for the next one month. There is one such team among these teams for which this season has not been good so far. Here the talk is not about the performance of that team, but about the absence of the top players of the team. This team is Rajasthan Royals, whose 3 most important English players have been out of this season. The franchise has also added some new players to make up for the lack of these stalwarts and one of them is one who is constantly spewing fire with his bat.
Three top foreign players of Rajasthan Royals – Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler have been ruled out of this season due to health and family reasons. Stokes and Archer were out at the beginning of the first part, while Buttler played some important innings including a century in the first part. He is not available for matches in the UAE, as he has recently become a father again and wants to spend time with his family. In such a situation, Rajasthan Royals has signed New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Glenn Phillips in place of the aggressive English wicketkeeper-batsman.
Phillips rained sixes in the CPL
The 24-year-old Phillips has been in excellent form this year and has blown the bowlers with his bat in different T20 tournaments. He did something similar in the Caribbean Premier League on Sunday 12 September, seeing which the enthusiasm of Rajasthan Royals and its fans would have doubled. Phillips, playing for the Barbados Royals, a team of Rajasthan Royals Group in CPL, won the team by playing a fiery innings.
In the last match of the season, Phillips led the team to victory, playing an unbeaten 80 off just 39 balls against St Lucia Kings. In his innings, Phillips hit 9 sixes and 2 fours.
Kyle Meyers all-round game
Apart from Phillips, Kyle Meyers of West Indies also showed his flair in this match. The left-handed batsman did wonders in the first bowling and made 3 Kings’ batsmen his prey. After this Meyers’s bat showed its edge and thrashed the Kings bowlers fiercely. The left-handed batsman played an unbeaten knock of 81 runs in just 62 balls, which included 5 fours and 6 sixes. With this, the Royals ended the season with a win by 8 wickets.
