FIFA World Cup 2022: Saudi Arabia, who surprised everyone by possibly the biggest upset in the history of the Football World Cup, has suffered its first defeat in the tournament. In the match against Poland, despite all the efforts, Saudi could not succeed in scoring a single goal and had to face defeat by 0-2. Poland’s legendary captain and one of the best strikers of the present, Robert Lewandowski ended his long wait by scoring his first goal in the World Cup.
In this Group C match held at the Education City Stadium on Saturday, tremendous attacking game was seen from both the teams and the defense of both the teams had to struggle hard. However, in the 39th minute of the first half, Pyotr Jielinski gave the team the lead by scoring Lewandowski’s pass without making any mistake in the Saudi goal.
Aldossari missed an easy chance
However, Saudi got a chance to make a comeback after 5 minutes as Al Shehri was brought down in the box by a Polish defender. After the decision of the video assistant referee, the referee pointed to the penalty spot and the Saudi fans in the stadium were filled with enthusiasm. The team’s star Salem Aldossari, who came to take the penalty, won the team by scoring a surprise goal from outside the box against Argentina in the first match.
Aldossari had a great chance to bring the team back into the match, but his shot proved to be breathless. He took a shot to the right of the goal, which was stopped by a diving Polish keeper Wochek Szczyny.
