First defeat in Rawalpindi, then defeat in Multan and now clean sweep in Karachi. For Pakistan, the Test series against England was no less than a shock. Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, Pakistan faced a clean sweep in the Test series. After 17 years, the England team won the Karachi Test by 8 wickets and put such a stain on Babar Azam’s army, which would not be possible for any Pakistani fan to erase from his mind.
The Pakistani team, which played very bad cricket at home, gave such hospitality to England, which the British would never have expected. Ben Stokes’ team played very aggressive cricket in the three-match Test series, to which Babar and Co. had no answer. The crushing defeat from England has given five such slaps on the face of Pakistan, whose echo is being heard by the whole world.
The first ‘slap’ on Pakistan’s face
This is the first time in Pakistan’s Test cricket history that it got a clean sweep at its own home. England has become the first team in the world to do this feat.
Another ‘slap’ on Pakistan’s face
Not only this, Pakistan has lost four consecutive Tests at its home. Before losing three Tests to England, the Pakistani team also lost one Test to Australia. For the first time, Pakistan has lost four consecutive Tests at home.
Third ‘slap’ on Pakistan’s face
England’s run rate in the entire Test series against the Pakistan team was 5.50, which is a new world record in Test cricket history. It is clear from this figure that how much the Pakistani bowlers were beaten.
Fourth ‘slap’ on Pakistan’s face
England did a clean sweep of Pakistan for the fifth time in the last 12 years. The great thing is that this clean sweep has happened in all the three formats. In the year 2010, England defeated Pakistan 2-0 in the T20 series, in 2012 England defeated Pakistan 4-0 in the ODI series. In 2015, Pakistan once again had to face a humiliating 0-3 defeat in the T20 series against England. In the ODI series held in 2021, England again made a clean sweep of Pakistan 3-0 and now in the Test series too, England has crushed Pakistan 3-0.
Fifth ‘slap’ on Pakistan’s face
Pakistan’s team dropped to number seven in the World Test Championship. Before the England Test series, this team was at number three, but now this team is below even weak teams like Sri Lanka and West Indies.
