World Athletics Championship 2029, India is ready to host 2031
All the people of the World Athletics Championship 2025 are eagerly waiting. The tournament will be held in Tokyo, the capital of Japan in September this year. India is ready to submit its claim for the 2029 and 2031 editions of the World Athletics Championship. Athletics Federation of India (AFI) former president Adil Sumriwala has made a big disclosure about this.
Adil Sumrivala revealed
Adil Sumriwala told the news agency PTI, 'We will submit our claim for the 2029 and 2031 championships. We are happy to host any one from both the seasons. Now there is some time to start the process and we will send our bid. Let me tell you that whatever member countries want that these tournaments should be with them, they can send their dialect to world athletics before October 1, 2025. World Athletics will announce hosting 2029 and 2031 in September 2026.
The last date to submit the application for the World Championship is April 1, 2026. After this, whatever countries want this tournament to be with them, they will have to submit the last bid application by 5 August 2026. AFI had earlier talked about bidding for the 2029 World Championship, but the idea of bidding for the 2031 season may also be because Asia is hosting both 2025 and 2027 seasons of this World Championship and it will be very difficult for India to host 2029 editions.
2029 edition is difficult to be in India
The World Championship 2025 season will be held in Tokyo while 2027 editions will be played in Beijing. If India gets the right to host for 2029, then this event will be held in Asia three times in a row. This is a little difficult to happen but India can get hosting 2031 season. Adil Sumriwala has also told that India has also shown interest in the hosting of Junior World Championship 2028. It will be important to see who host the World Athletics Championship 2029 and 2031.
