The world’s legendary tennis player Novak Djokovic of Serbia could not play in the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, the Australian Open. Djokovic had to return disappointed due to the controversy over the Corona vaccine. He had fought till the court for this but in the end he was defeated. Due to the vaccine, he was finding it difficult to play in the French Open , the second Grand Slam of the year, but now he seems to be getting relief. World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic can play the French Open in May despite not being vaccinated, due to the French government’s new rules for corona vaccination.
Djokovic was not allowed to play the Australian Open for not following Australia’s stringent corona vaccination rules and was also deported from the country. Initially it seemed that he would not even be able to play the French Open, because even in a new law in France, such people are not allowed to enter stadiums, restaurants, bars or other public places who have not got the corona vaccine.
Sports Minister said this
French Sports Minister Roxana M has said that as soon as the law is passed, vaccination passes will be mandatory for entry into every public place. This would also apply to spectators, French or foreign professionals. Under this law, which came into force from Monday, the person who has given evidence of corona infection in the last six months will not be required to show this pass. This means that Djokovic can play the French Open in May-June because he was infected in mid-December. Questions asked by the French Sports Ministry regarding Djokovic’s case could not be answered.
The hunt continues for the 21st Grand Slam
Djokovic was about to enter the Australian Open as the current winner and was considered a strong contender for the title. But due to the vaccine controversy, his dream of saving his title this time was shattered. So far Djokovic has 20 Grand Slams to his name. He is equal to Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Switzerland’s Roger Federer in terms of winning the most Grand Slams in the men’s category. Nadal has a chance to beat these two players. Both Djokovic and Federer are not playing in this tournament and hence Nadal is seen as a strong contender for the title.
