On the first day of the Dhaka Test, India dismissed Bangladesh for just 227 runs. Obviously the Indian bowlers performed amazingly. In such a situation, the discussion should have been about this performance of Team India, but on the first day of the second Test, the center of discussion remained only one name- Kuldeep Yadav, The left-arm Indian spinner was dropped from this Test even after winning the Player of the Match award in the first Test and it created a storm. Now former veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has given such a suggestion, which may help him continue to get a place in Team India.
Kuldeep Yadav made a comeback to the Test team after a long time and took 8 wickets in the very first occasion itself. It also included 5 wickets in Bangladesh’s first innings, while batting also had an important contribution of 40 runs. India won the match by 188 runs but replaced him in the very next Test and included fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat, who played his first Test after 12 years.
Harbhajan’s special ‘advice’ to Kuldeep
Similarly, Kuldeep has been getting fewer opportunities and in such a situation, after a good performance, no one liked to drop in this way and everyone questioned the team management and heard the coach and captain. Harbhajan Singh was also no different and while taunting the team management, even gave special ‘advice’ to Kuldeep. Harbhajan told PTI,
“I think from now on Kuldeep should stop taking five wickets. Who knows, this may give him a chance to play two consecutive Test matches.
Harbhajan also referred to the previous occasions when Kuldeep was dropped despite performing well. The former off-spinner said, “The last time he took five wickets against Australia in Sydney in a different condition before the Chittagong Test. He should have been India’s number one spinner overseas, but he had to wait for two years to play a Test. Now he got a chance to play Test again after almost two years and he was again dropped from the team. Will be happy to know the logic behind it.
‘There is no sense of security in the players’
Veteran spinner Harbhajan, known as Turbanator, who took more than 400 wickets in Test cricket, lashed out at Team India and said that security has become just a word in Indian cricket. He said, “I do not want to name any player but in the Test structure some players get longer chances, even for five years. In the case of Kuldeep, it seems that the duration of such protection is only five days. If someone is dropped even after taking eight wickets, then how will he feel safe. Can he play fearlessly when the team management has instilled fear in him.
