Indian sports fraternity has also suffered a lot in the last few weeks due to coronavirus and some veterans associated with different sports have lost their lives due to this virus.

Due to coronavirus, millions of people are being affected all over the country and thousands of lives are being visited every day. The Indian sports fraternity has also not been able to escape this. In the last few weeks, this deadly virus killed the famous personalities related to shooting and hockey. Now the cricket world is also under its grip. India’s senior cricket statistician Dinar Gupte died due to a coronavirus infection. Dinar Gupte was part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) in the last 5 decades. The SCA issued a statement on Thursday 6 May informing the death of Dinar Gupte.
The Saurashtra Cricket Association said in its statement that the 76-year-old Gupte had been battling Corona for some time and breathed his last on Thursday morning. In its statement, the SCA said, “We at SCA are deeply saddened by the death of Dinar Gupte. Dinarji was from Vadodara. He went to heaven this morning while battling Kovid-19. ” In the statement, SCA also told about the work of Dinar Gupte, which shows that he was an important part of Indian cricket.
BCCI’s statistian for 15 years
Dinar Gupte started as a statistician from 1970 and during this time he was also part of BCCI, SCA and as official scorer of Indian team in 1999 World Cup. According to SCA, “He was the official statistician of BCCI for 15 years and since 1970 he served as official scorer for different cricket associations including BCCI, SCA, All India Radio.”
BG Joshi died last month
Before Dinar Gupte, hockey veteran BG Joshi also died last month due to a coronavirus infection. The legendary statist, known as Joshi sir, was the biggest repository of statistics related to hockey and he had a wealth of matches and goals scored, personal data of the players associated with every team around the world including India.
