Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler is the highest run-scorer in IPL 2022 and has already made many records in his name.
The IPL 2022 season brought new heights of success for Rajasthan Royals’ star opener Jos Buttler. The explosive batsman of England made the best performance of his IPL career in this season and made many records while raining runs. His streak of record continued in the final as well. During the final match between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals (GT vs RR), Butler did a feat which no batsman in IPL history had done before. A special ‘double century’ came off Butler’s bat, which gave yet another proof of his astonishing form this season.
In the final of Sunday 29 May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Rajasthan Royals decided to bat first. Once again for the team, Jos Buttler came for the opening, who was constantly dusting the bowlers with his bat this season. In the second over of the innings, Butler cut the third ball of left-arm pacer Yash Dayal and got a four from near point. With this four, Butler became the first batsman to score this special double century in the IPL.
Butler’s special ‘Double Century’
Now the question is, what kind of double century is this? So this double century is also of runs, but not in one innings or one match, but 200 runs are being talked about in different matches. But this match is no ordinary match. The thing is such that Jos Buttler has become the first batsman in IPL history to score 200 or more runs in playoff matches. Before Butler, the record for the most runs in the playoff stage was held by David Warner, who scored 190 runs in 2016 for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Butler played two matches in the playoffs before the final. In the first qualifier against Gujarat itself, his innings of 89 runs came from the bat. Then in the second qualifier, he played an unbeaten century of 106 runs in 60 balls to take the team to the final.
