Tilak Verma won the hearts of everyone by performing brilliantly in his very first IPL season. Rohit Sharma told him the future of Team India, which has also been supported by Sunil Gavaskar.
Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar (Sunil Gavaskar) has backed Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma’s view that young Tilak Verma could become a batsman playing all formats for India. Tilak Verma, one of the emerging players in the current season of the Indian Premier League, has impressed by scoring 368 runs in 12 matches during the disappointing performance of Mumbai Indians. Gavaskar said on Star Sports, ‘Tilak Verma’s mentality is amazing. He came to the crease against Chennai Super Kings when the team was under pressure but the way he carried the innings with one and two runs in the beginning was impressive.
Gavaskar said, ‘Tilak has different types of shots and he keeps rotating the strike. It shows that he has a good understanding of cricket and I think that is important. The great opener said, ‘If you have a good cricketing mind then you can hardly get out when things are not going in your favor. You can analyze your game and score runs again.
Tilak will play all three formats for Team India
Gavaskar also lauded the youngster for keeping his basics right and agrees with Rohit’s vision that the budding Hyderabad cricketer could become the batsman to play all formats for India in future. He said, ‘Rohit Sharma has rightly said that he can become a player to play in all formats for India. So it is now up to him to work a little harder, improve his fitness, improve his technique and prove Rohit right.
What is Tilak Verma’s strength?
Gavaskar said, ‘Tilak Verma keeps the basics right. His technique is perfect. He plays behind the ball. He plays with a straight bat and while playing a defensive shot on the front foot, his bat is near the pads. All his basics are correct. All you need is the right mindset with the right basics and we’ve seen both of these things work pretty well right now. I hope this continues. It is believed that Tilak Verma can be selected in the T20 series against South Africa.
