IPL 2021: Michael Vaughan called Virat Kohli a flop captain
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s journey in the Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL 2021) ended on Monday. Kolkata Knight Riders ended their campaign by defeating Bangalore by 4 wickets in Sharjah. This was Virat Kohli’s last IPL as a captain and he could not win the title in this too. After the defeat of Bangalore, former England captain Michael Vaughan made a big comment on the captaincy of Virat Kohli. He called Virat Kohli a failed captain.
Vaughan told ‘Cricbuzz’, ‘You have to honestly admit that he could not achieve much success in ODI cricket and T20 for the national team and Royal Challengers Bangalore.’ He said, ‘The kind of talent and team he works with is one of the best. RCB’s team has been very strong in batting in the last few years.
“This year they also had the batting support bowling with the skills of Maxwell, Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal but still they were away from the title,” he said.
Virat Kohli will consider himself a failure
Vaughan said, ‘The legacy of Kohli’s captaincy in the IPL will be that he could not win the title.’ He said, ‘In top level game you have to overcome hurdles, be a champion, especially when you are a player of Kohli’s level.’ He said, ‘I believe that Virat Kohli will consider himself a failure as a captain in the IPL because he is a player to set an example with his performance and he does not have that trophy in hand.’
The former England captain said that Kohli is doing a great job leading the Indian Test team. He said, ‘What Virat is doing with the Test team and Test match cricket is developing the Indian team, it is fantastic in this respect.’
