Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by Virat Kohli, is currently one of the strongest and most sustained teams in IPL 2021. On Tuesday, the team also faced a strong challenge from Delhi Capitals (DC) and registered a thrilling win by 1 run. After this win, Bangalore have returned to the top of the points table once again. With this win, RCB have not only got 2 points, but also strengthened for the upcoming matches of the season. Despite this, Captain Kohli seems a little disappointed that the team did not finish the match already and gave Delhi a chance to return.
Batting first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Bangalore scored a score of 171 runs. Most of the batsmen of the team could not impress much. Once again, AB de Villiers’ half-century (75 not out) saved the team’s respect. At the same time, Delhi also returned after a bad start. Bangalore had a chance to end the match early, but Shimron Hetmyer’s fiery innings ended those chances and the match was almost tripped by RCB’s hand.
Once the match was slipped
Captain Virat Kohli was excited by this victory of the team and he said that for one time he too started feeling afraid of losing the match. Kohli said after the victory, “For a time I felt like this. But the way Siraj started the last over, it gave us confidence. He finished the job very cleanly. “
This mistake could have been heavy
However, Kohli admitted that the team did some negligence in fielding, which gave Delhi a chance to return to the match. Kohli said, “I still think we could have done some things differently. Something was wrong with the fielding. If it is not there, the match does not reach here. ” In fact, Devdutt Padikkal had dropped the catch of Shimron Hetmyer on the very first ball of the 16th over. At the time, Hetmyer was on just 15 runs. In the 18th over, Hetmyer hit Delhi for three sixes and hit a half-century in just 23 balls.
Satisfied with the bowling option
The Bangalore captain, however, is very satisfied that the team’s bowling has also strengthened and now they have many options. Kohli told about the bowling of the team, “We have many bowling options. Maxwell is not bowling for us right now, he is our seventh option. There was always depth in our batting, but now we have got many options in bowling as well. ”
RCB is the first team to win five matches this season. With 5 wins out of 6, the team has reached the top in the points table, leaving behind teams like Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Bangalore need at least 3 more wins to secure a place in the playoffs. The team’s next match will be against Punjab Kings on 30 April in Ahmedabad.
