The franchisees and stakeholders of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday applauded the decision of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) to postpone the tournament indefinitely and stressed that as the country is grappling with the unprecedented crisis of Kovid-19 So cricket can wait. The BCCI was forced to postpone the IPL-2021 (IPL 2021) after several cases of Kovid-19 were reported between players and support staff in the bio bubble in the last few days. The IPL was running smoothly but it was postponed against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday after two Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrier were found positive.
On the same day, three non-playing members of Chennai Super Kings were found to be bowling coach L Balaji, CEO Kashi Vishwanathan and a bus cleaner positive. On Tuesday, Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra were also found positive for the virus after which the BCCI decided to postpone the tournament with immediate effect.

Royal Challengers Bangalore said in a statement, “We are all united in this. The safety of all is the most important in IPL 2021 and we support the BCCI’s decision to postpone the tournament. The Royal Challengers Bangalore will work in consultation with the BCCI to ensure that all return safely. ”
The rest of the teams also supported the decision
Apart from RCB, other franchisees have also said that they support the decision of BCCI. Chennai Superkings tweeted on its official Twitter handle, “On this occasion, we would like to thank all the health workers, state associations, sportspersons, support staff and sponsors for their support. We will roar once more soon. ”
The defending champions Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings announced that they would work with the BCCI for the safe return of all their members. Mumbai Indians tweeted, “With the suspension of IPL 2021, Mumbai Indians will work with the BCCI and the concerned authorities to ensure the safe travel of every member of the franchise.” ”
Punjab Kings tweeted, “Punjab Kings will work with BCCI and other officials to ensure safe return of all team members.” Sunrisers also tweeted with gratitude to the health workers, “Together we will fight the situation and emerge safe and strong”.

Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin also praised the BCCI for postponing the tournament. Azharuddin wrote, “In view of the Kovid crisis in India and the positive results of the players, the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council have taken the right decision to postpone the IPL with immediate effect.”
