IPL 2021 has been suspended after 29 matches. In such a situation, there are 31 matches left in it. The time required for these matches will be at least one month.
Before the tournament started, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that the IPL 2021 will be held in India only.
IPL 2021 has been suspended. The BCCI has taken this decision due to the increasing Corona cases. In such a situation, the IPL has to be stopped only after half the tournament. In the last two days, corona cases were reported in four teams. In such a situation, if there was fear among the players, then there was a risk of spreading the infection among them. For this reason, the Indian Cricket Board suspended the tournament for the most recent time without taking any risk. Now the big question is whether IPL will be done in this year or not? If and when will it happen? IPL chairman Brijesh Patel told news agency PTI about this, ‘The tournament has been suspended indefinitely. We will try to organize this competition in the next available time, but this month there is no such possibility.
International cricket calendars are very busy. Time is only for April-May for IPL. In this way, making a place for it in the coming months will be crooked. Even in 2020, the IPL could not be held in April-May. But last year, cricket was stopped at other places as well. In such a situation, the BCCI conducted a tournament in the UAE using the empty space between September and October. This time there is no such scene. Also, the T20 World Cup is to be held at the end of the year. India also has its host.
BCCI will have to remove time for 31 matches
IPL 2021 has been suspended after 29 matches. In such a situation, there are 31 matches left in it. The time required for these matches will be at least one month. This time can be taken from the point of view of Indian players, but IPL teams spend a lot of money on foreign players. Also, foreign active players are important characters in this tournament. In such a situation, it is not easy to find time according to them. The Indian team has to travel to England in the first week of June. From June 18, he has to play the final of the World Test Championship with New Zealand. After this, Indian players will be free till July. But at that time it will not be easy to call the players back and complete the tournament before the Test series against England in July.
May be a chance in September
The Indian team will return in September after a five-Test series in England. Then he has to play the series from New Zealand on his land. This series is to be preceded by the proposed T20 World Cup in November. Also, there is news of playing his T20 series with South Africa as well. But BCCI can make space for IPL by moving these series back and forth. During this time, due to sufficient time, the BCCI will also get time for preparation. During this period, no series of other teams is also proposed. In such a situation, the rest of the tournament can be completed in September.
The talk of holding the tournament in September is also in the mind of BCCI officials. Giving such a hint, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla told PTI, ‘We will see if we can get any suitable time for the IPL event later in the year. It may be September but for now it will only be speculation. The situation as of now is that we are not organizing the tournament.
