In IPL 2021, Delhi will also need Prithvi Shaw. This season, captain Shreyas Iyer is not playing due to injury.
Ricky Ponting is the head coach of Delhi Capitals and Prithvi Shaw is the team opener.
Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting has made a big disclosure about Prithvi Shaw. He says that this young batsman of India does not practice batting when he is in poor form. However, Ponting has described Prithvi Shaw as a very talented batsman. Shaw had failed in the last IPL. He was able to score just 228 runs in 13 matches at an average of 17.53. He had started well and had scored two half-centuries in the first three innings. But then he could not go beyond 20 runs in the next eight innings. Due to this, later he was also out of the team. In such a situation, Delhi Capitals will have a lot of expectations from Shaw in IPL 2021.
Talking about Shaw, Ponting said that he was surprised by the behavior of this young player during poor form last season. He told cricket.com.au, ‘I tried to take Shaw with me in the last two years. I enjoyed working with him. I had a fun conversation with him in last year’s IPL. I wanted to know how he could perform well, how he could be taught better. But last year he had a strange theory about batting. He would not bat when he was scoring runs. And when he was in form, he wanted to bat all the time. He scored less than 10 runs in four or five matches. Then I told him that let’s go to the nets and find out what is wrong. He looked into my eyes and said that I will not bat today.
Ponting said – Hope Shaw will have given up his theory
The former Australia captain said,
I did not understand his point. It may have changed now. I know that he has done a lot of work in the last few months. Hopefully, he has left the theory. Because if we get better performance than that then he can become a superstar player.
In IPL 2021, Delhi will also need Prithvi Shaw. This season, captain Shreyas Iyer is not playing due to injury. In such a situation, Shaw will have a lot of responsibility. Although now they are in full color. He scored 800 runs in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy.
