The Purple Cap race in IPL has always been very interesting. Purple cap means the crown of the bowler’s head. It goes to the bowler who takes the most wickets in the league. Every season, bowlers used to give tough competition to each other for this cap, but this time a bowler has set foot in the first place like Angad and he is not allowing anyone to come near him. The name of this bowler is Harshal Patel. The league phase of IPL 2021 is at its last stage but Patel’s reign does not seem to end. On Wednesday, Patel’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Sunrisers Hyderabad. After this match, Patel’s position has further strengthened and at the same time he has made another record in his name. He has also become the highest wicket-taker Indian bowler in an IPL season.
Harshal completed his 28 wickets in this season by dismissing de Villiers of RCB and with this he has become the highest wicket-taker Indian bowler in an IPL season. Before him, this record was in the name of Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Sunrisers only. In the first phase of IPL-2021, Harshal Patel was at the forefront of the Purple Cap race with 17 wickets in seven matches. Harshal Patel is eyeing Dwayne Bravo (32) to break the record for most wickets in an IPL season.
