The last four months have been very surprising for an Indian player. During this time he made a place in the Indian Test team and played the lead role in defeating England. He got a place in the team on the injury of a veteran player and then showed such a game that many people raised questions on the place of the legendary player. Then just before IPL 2021 he got corona virus. Due to this, he had to stay away from the team for 20 days. It took a lot of time for this player to recover. But as soon as I came back and landed in the field, the water was dispersed. This player is Axar Patel. The Delhi Capitals player bowled brilliantly in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad and led the team to victory in the super over. This was the first match in IPL 2021 after Akshar Patel recovered from a corona infection. He took two wickets for just 26 runs in four overs. At the same time, in the Super Over, just seven runs were given in front of dangerous players like David Warner and Kane Williamson. Delhi won this thrilling match.
After winning the match, Akshar Patel said that he was willing to put a super over. He said, ‘When I was in the dressing room, I knew that the pitch would help the spinners. We discussed a lot and first thought that the fast bowler should take off in view of the left-right combination. After that when we were going on the field, I thought that spinners can also be effective. I told Rishabh that I can bowl. He spoke to coach Ricky Ponting and at one point it was decided that I would bowl the over. Akshar had performed brilliantly in the Test series against England before the IPL, which boosted his confidence. He thanked the teammates for reposing confidence and said, “I was nervous before the match, but was feeling good after the warm-up (pre-match practice) with the team.”
Akshar Patel remained quarantined for 20 days
This left-arm spinner remained in Quarantine for nearly 20 days due to Corona. Apart from them, some players were hit by Corona. But the letter took the most time to recover. Regarding this, he said, ‘I came back again and became emotional among my close friends and teammates because I was in Quarantine for 20 days. Everyone supported me and trusted me as much as I did not. I was bowling well in Tests and T20s before I got hit by Kovid-19. My confidence was increased and I was not thinking much about Kovid-19. It was obviously a disappointing period for me.
Test debut made against England
About returning to the playing XI, he said, ‘I was ready on my part. The team management asked me how it looked after recovering from Corona. I had done four sessions and was feeling better. Before the Corona transition, I bowled well in Tests and T20s, so I was very confident. On the Chennai pitch, the ball was coming slow and moving. I told the team management that I am fit to play the match. On this, he said that if I am ready then I will play.
Akshar Patel made his test debut in Chennai itself. He played three Tests while making a debut against England. In this, he took 27 wickets.
