He retired from the post of DGP of Gujarat in December 2010. He has been an advisor to Essar Group for ten years thereafter.
BCCI appointed new ACU Chief
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is very serious about preventing corruption. His Anti-Corruption Unit is constantly active and takes every necessary step. The command of this unit was still in the hands of Ajit Singh. The BCCI has now handed over the command of its anti-corruption unit to former Gujarat DGP Shabbir Hussain S. Khandwawala. He will now be the new head of the unit and will replace Ajit Singh. This time the BCCI did not ask for an application for this post.
Former Rajasthan DGP Ajit Singh held the post in April 2018 and his term ended on 31 March. He confirmed to PTI that he would continue to work for a few days to help the next chief. At the same time, Khandwawala, a 1973 batch IPS officer, has been appointed to this post before the IPL starting on April 9.
Experience will benefit
Khandwala has said that he will benefit from the experience he has and he will be able to help the BCCI well. He said, “It is a matter of great pride that I am becoming a part of BCCI which is the best cricket organization in the world.” I will get the benefit of my experience on security issues in this work. “
He retired from the post of DGP of Gujarat in December 2010. He has been an advisor to Essar Group for ten years thereafter. He was also a member of the Lokpal Search Committee of the Central Government. He will go to Chennai on Wednesday. Earlier, he also saw the last ODI between India and England.
IPL will be on watch
Khandwala has been given this responsibility before a big tournament like IPL. Speculators around the world become active as soon as the IPL arrives. There has also been a shadow of fixing in the IPL in the past. This tournament is constantly monitored by bookies. In such a situation, the effort of the new chief will be to keep this money-ravaged league away from corruption.
