The Australian team made a special appeal to the BCCI after the defeat in the Nagpur Test, although the board turned down their wish.
Australia got a humiliating defeat in the first test
to the Australian team nagupar test I am digesting everything shameful that I got at the hands of India. The batting of the visiting team looked completely flop here. For this reason, it got all out for 177 runs in the first innings and just 91 runs in the second innings. With a desire to improve themselves, Australia appealed to the BCCI, which was rejected by the Indian board. Now this has become a new excuse for the Kangaroo team and their veterans to complain.
The Australian board had told the BCCI that after the match was over, they wanted to practice on the same pitch where both innings were played. Five batsmen of the team wanted to practice there. This was going to be an optional training session. However, as soon as the match ended on the third day, the BCCI started watering the pitch, due to which Australia did not get this opportunity.
Ian Healy angry with BCCI
Australia’s coach Andrew McDonald said that he wanted the batsmen to go to adapt to the extreme conditions of India and that is why an appeal was made to the BCCI. Apart from this there was no other plan. The BCCI’s decision angered former Australian player Ian Healy, who termed the board’s decision as shameful. Healy vented her anger in conversation with Sen and said, ‘This is bad. When the Australian batsmen had appealed to practice on the pitch, then it is a very shameful act to let them get on the pitch. This is not good for cricket. ICC needs to intervene here why BCCI did this. He knew that our players wanted to bat.
Healy has already raised questions about the pitch
Ian Healy had earlier also raised questions about India’s pitches. He had said that good pitches are not given for practice in India. He said before the Nagpur Test, ‘We had gathered our spinners in Sydney for strategic talks. This is because we are not at all sure that we will be given good pitches for practice in India. When I heard that we would not be playing a warm-up match on the tour of India, I went to Andrew McDonald (head coach) and said that is the right idea.
