India won the second ODI by 3 wickets against Sri Lanka to take a 2-0 lead in the series. In response to the target of 277 runs from Sri Lanka, Team India, caught in a difficult situation, was saved by Deepak Chahar’s excellent unbeaten half-century and a tremendous partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and snatched victory from the mouth of defeat. Obviously this performance of Team India impressed everyone and team coach Rahul Dravid was also no different from him. In such a situation, after the end of the match, when the team gathered in the dressing room, Dravid gave a small speech to increase enthusiasm and win hearts.
After the victory of the Indian team, Dravid while talking to the team said that even if the team could not win this match, the kind of struggle shown was important. In the video posted by the BCCI, Dravid said, “Definitely we are standing on the right end of the result. It was awesome. Even if we weren’t on the right side, the way we fought was important. You all did a great job.”
Individual performance made the whole team amazing
However, Dravid said the most important thing after this, in which instead of one’s individual performance, the effort of the whole team was important. He said, “This is not the time to talk about individual demonstrations. We will talk about it in the team meeting, when we analyze everything. But if you look at the whole match, it was a great team performance. From our bowling to batting, we saw many great performances, from the beginning to the end, the way the batsmen finished the match.
