KL Rahul had recently batted brilliantly in IPL-2022, but he was also criticized for his slow batting in this league.
The five-match T20 series between India and South Africa (IND vs SA) is starting from Thursday. The first match of the series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In this match both the teams will try to win and take the lead. As hosts, India certainly has the upper hand, but Team India cannot make the mistake of taking South Africa lightly. India has rested many of its veterans for this series. It includes the names of the two biggest batsmen of the team, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In the absence of Rohit, the responsibility of captaining the team has come on KL Rahul. Rahul will have to do wonders in captaincy as well as batting, but recently his slow approach has become a cause for concern. Team coach Rahul Dravid has given his opinion regarding this.
Rahul had recently done well in IPL-2022 and was second in the list of highest run-scorers. He played 15 matches this season and scored 616 runs. During this, he has scored two centuries and four half-centuries. His strike rate this IPL season was 135.38.
Coach Rahul gave this answer
When Team India coach Rahul Dravid was asked about Rahul’s slow approach in the press conference on Tuesday, he said, “We would like to start well. We know our top 3 batsmen. If it is a high scoring match, we would like him to maintain a good strike rate throughout, but there will be some tough matches as well. However, we have the ability in the top-3 that he can do this work.
Big thing said on Rohit’s rest
When coach Rahul was asked about resting regular captain Rohit Sharma, he said that it is not right to expect everyone to be available all the time. Rahul said, “Rohit plays in all three formats. It is not right to expect someone that he will always be available. We want her to be fit and fresh. There will come a time when we will have to give rest to our big players.”
Rohit’s IPL-2022 did not go well. Mumbai Indians under his captaincy were at the bottom of the points table at 10th place. Rohit’s bat did not even move. He could not score a single half-century this season. This is the first time that Rohit has not scored a single half-century in the IPL.
