The second ODI is being played between India and New Zealand in Hamilton. During this match, the way dark clouds are seen hovering above the ground of Hamilton, the same excitement is still regarding Sanju Samson. Actually, Sanju Samson has again been dropped from the Indian playing XI. As soon as the toss took place in Hamilton, captain Shikhar Dhawan talked about 2 changes in the team, in which Sanju Samson was dropped from the playing XI. But the big question is why?
Change in the team becomes necessary in order to coordinate in different city, different conditions and different condition team. Deepak Hooda replaced Sanju Samson in Team India for Hamilton ODI. There is no complaint about Deepak Hooda, but what happened with Sanju Samson also does not seem right. If Deepak Hooda had to exclude someone by doing this, then those names can also be there, who are not scoring and whose record in ODIs is much worse than Sanju Samson.
Why Samson, why not Rishabh Pant?
Sanju Samson scored 36 runs in 38 balls in the first ODI played in Auckland. It was clear from this innings of Sanju that he is in rhythm. And, it could have happened in the second ODI that his confidence would have increased if given a chance. But this did not happen. Samson was dropped from the team. However, if the management wanted, it could have dropped either Rishabh Pant or Suryakumar Yadav.
Rishabh Pant is in the team even after scoring 15 runs in 23 balls in the first ODI played in Auckland. Perhaps simply because he is the vice-captain of the ODI team on this tour. If the team management had to go with the keeper batsman, then Sanju Samson could have been a better option.
Hooda could have played instead of Suryakumar
Like Pant, Samson’s upper hand is heavy on Suryakumar Yadav in ODIs. Of course, in the recent T20 matches, Suryakumar has been seen in excellent touch. But his story of ODIs is different. Here he has scored only 13, 9, 8, 4 in the last 4 ODI innings. That is, the digit of ten has been touched only once.
Whereas Sanju Samson has scored 86*, 30*, 2*, 36 in the last 4 ODI innings. Means 3 times unbeaten and one half-century innings is included. It is clear from these figures that who should have been fed and who was not. To give a chance to Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav would have been a better option because it would have given him rest from continuous cricket.
