The Indian cricket team had to face a crushing defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the first match played in Auckland. Team India, captained by Shikhar Dhawan, was defeated even after scoring 306 runs. New Zealand’s Tom Latham and captain Kane Williamson played brilliant innings to force India to defeat. Latham scored a century and Williamson scored a half-century. Now by winning the second match, Team India would like to equalize in the series.
In the first match played at Eden Park, the batsmen of the Indian team showed a good game. India’s opening pair of Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan had definitely started slowly but later scored fast and set a good platform for the middle order. Both Gill and Dhawan scored half-centuries. Apart from him, Shreyas Iyer played an inning of 80 runs.
What will be the change in playing-11
Team India scored 306 runs in 50 overs but New Zealand achieved this target easily. Indian bowlers were unsuccessful in saving this target. The lack of a sixth bowler was clearly seen in the Indian bowling attack. In the second ODI, Shikhar Dhawan can fulfill this shortcoming and in such a situation there can be a change in the playing-11. Team India landed in the first ODI with two wicketkeepers – Pant and Samson. In such a situation, the team management can exclude one of them for Chhath bowling option.
Deepak Hooda is a player who can contribute with both bat and ball. His off-spin can prove useful for the team while he can also contribute well with the bat. He can score innings and can also add runs quickly.
spin will change
Yuzvendra Chahal proved to be very expensive in the first ODI. He had given 67 runs in 10 overs and could not even take wickets. Kuldeep Yadav can get a chance in his place. Kuldeep’s chinaman bowling can become a problem for the hosts. His arrival will also diversify the bowling attack.
Will New Zealand make a difference?
The hosts kept James Neesham out due to injury in the first ODI. Now it has to be seen whether he is fine and can play? If he becomes fit enough to make a place in the playing-11, then it will be a headache situation for New Zealand.
Possible playing-11 of both the teams
India- Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant/Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal/Kuldeep Yadav
New Zealand- Kane Williamson (Captain), Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Darrell Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson.
