The only win of the day so far went to the male shooters of India ugR. Two Indian shooters made it to the finals in the 10m Air Pistol SH1. Manish Narwal topped the qualifying round and made it to the final. Now he and Raj Singh will target for the medal.
The pair of Bhavina and Sonal Patel lost
Bhavina Patel, who won India a historic medal in table tennis, lost the first match of the doubles category. In the women’s doubles event of Class 4 and 3 along with Sonal Patel, the Indian pair lost to the Chinese pair. The Chinese pair won the match 11-2, 11-4, 11-2 in a one-sided fashion. For the medal, the pair needed to win just one match. Their bronze medal would have been confirmed as soon as they reached the semi-finals, but the Chinese pair did not even give them this opportunity.
Rubina Francis ranked seventh
Indian shooter Rubina Francis finished seventh in the women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 final. Rubina scored 128.1 in the final at the Asaka Shooting Range. In the SH1 category, shooters hold a pistol with one hand. He has a disorder in one hand or leg. In this, shooters aim by sitting or standing according to the rules. Iran’s Sarah Jawanmardi won the gold medal with a world record of 239.2. The previous record (238.1) was in Rubina’s name.
Rakesh Kumar lost in quarter final
Rakesh Kumar crashed out of the men’s individual compound quarterfinals of the Paralympic Games archery event after losing 143-145 to Al Xinliang of China in a close contest on Tuesday. Rakesh was trailing 29-30 in the first set itself. The Chinese archer maintained his lead till the end despite the Indian player’s attempts to make a comeback. Rakesh scored 29 in the first, third and fifth sets but could only score 28 in the second and fourth sets, which he had to bear the brunt of.
