A player has applied for Team India’s fielding coach who has played for India as a wicketkeeper. He holds the record for scoring the youngest Test century as a keeper. But the international career came to a halt only after 18 matches. The name of this player is Ajay Ratra. Former India wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra has applied for the post of fielding coach of the Indian cricket team. BCCI has invited applications for various coaching positions for the Indian team. Under this, Rahul Dravid has applied for the post of head coach, Paras Mhambrey bowling coach, Abhay Sharma fielding coach. Dravid, Mhambre and Sharma have been in the NCA till now. Here he assumed the same responsibility.

He is the first wicket-keeper batsman for India to score a century abroad in Test cricket.  Also, he holds the record for scoring a Test century at the youngest age as a keeper.  He scored a century against West Indies in Antigua in 2002.  Ajay Ratra could play only three Tests after scoring a century and was ruled out due to injury.  Then could never come to Team India again.  His Test career lasted five months.  He made his debut in April 2002 and last Test in September 2002.

At the same time, in 89 List A matches, he scored 1381 runs as well as made 108 victims.  He is currently the head coach of Assam and is in the northeastern state for the team's camp ahead of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.  This T20 tournament will start from November 4.  In the IPL, he has worked with Delhi Capitals and has also been associated with the Indian women's team in the past.  Ajay Ratra is also a regular at the National Cricket Academy and has worked with India's wicketkeepers such as Wriddhiman Saha and Rishabh Pant.
