In the closing ceremony of Khelo India, PM Modi praised the Indian players and the country’s rising sporting level. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur salutes the players of Hariyama
Describing the Khelo India Youth Games as a symbol of the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a special message sent on the closing ceremony of these Games, said that their talent and performance will be the hallmark of India’s ever-increasing potential at the world level in the 21st century. The Khelo India Youth Games concluded on Monday in which host Haryana secured the first position by winning 137 medals including 52 gold. Maharashtra came second with 125 medals including 45 gold and Karnataka stood third with 67 medals including 22 gold. In his message at the closing ceremony, Prime Minister Modi said, “Over the years, talented sportspersons of the country have made themselves, their families and the country proud by their performances in various sports on different platforms.” His talent and performance are the hallmarks of India’s ever-increasing potential on the world stage in the 21st century.
PM Modi further said, ‘Today the hopes and aspirations of the young players of the country are becoming the basis for taking decisions and making policies. In the new education policy, emphasis has been laid on creating the infrastructure of modern sports by promoting sports. He said, “With modern technology, a rich sports culture is being created in India today. From the search, selection and training of talent to meeting their sporting needs, the government stands with the talented youth at every step.
12 national records broken in Khelo India
PM Modi said, ‘Young players from every corner of the country participated in this session of Khelo India and gave the hallmark of the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. We hope that our youth will continue to illuminate the name of the country and give new flight to their dreams on the playground. Congratulating all the contestants, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said, “12 new national records were set in these games and I congratulate all the players.”
Sports Minister impressed by Haryana’s dominance
Anurag Thakur said, ‘So far in Khelo India, the match has been between Haryana and Maharashtra and nothing was different here too. I congratulate Haryana for its dominance in sports in the country. The Sports Minister expressed hope that the Khelo India Games will be held again in the next few months. “We want Khelo India Youth Games and University Games to be held again between November and March,” he said. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of State for Sports Nishith Pramanik, Haryana Sports Minister Sandeep Singh were also present on the occasion.
