New Delhi: 11 overs of the innings of Chennai Super Kings were completed and 100 runs of the team were also completed. In the very first match of IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans, Chennai made such a bang at its home ground, Narendra Modi Stadium. For him Rituraj Gaikwad Had hit a blistering half-century while raining sixes. It seemed that the score of 200 would be completed in the very first match of the season, but it did not happen and one reason for this was captain MS Dhoni not trusting Ravindra Jadeja.
In the first match of the new season, opener Rituraj Gaikwad played a blistering inning for CSK in front of about 70-80 thousand fans. CSK, which scored only 2 runs in the first over, started looting runs from the second over and Gaikwad did this work. The young opener had completed his half-century in just 23 balls. When Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu were batting, the score seemed to be getting bigger.

Shivam Dubey did the damage
Ambati Rayudu was dismissed on the fifth ball of the 13th over. At that time CSK’s score was 121 runs. Just here, Dhoni made such a mistake, which prevented the team from reaching close to 200. Dhoni decided to send Shivam Dubey in place of star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja but it backfired. From the very beginning, Dubey was seen struggling for the right timing on the pitch and its effect was visible on the scoreboard.
Dubey was dismissed on the third ball of the 19th over and could score only 19 runs in 18 balls. In this range from 13th over to 19th over, CSK added only 42 runs in 34 balls.

CSK missed the chance to score big
The effect of Dubey’s slow batting was that in the 18th over, Gaikwad was dismissed in an attempt to hit a big shot and then Ravindra Jadeja, who came in to bat, was also caught near the boundary in the same over. Had Dhoni not hit a six and a four in the last over, CSK would not have been able to reach the score of 178. Overall, CSK, who were scoring runs at the rate of 9 runs per over in the 11th over, could only add 78 runs in the next 9 overs.
